Update for July 9, 2008

Frank G. Fort MD FACS of the Capital Region Vein and Laser Centre recently passed his board certification exam in phlebology and has been awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Phlebology (ACP). Phlebology is the branch of medicine that deals with veins and diseases of veins. Dr. Fort is the only board-certified vein specialist in upstate New York.

According to the American Board of Medical Specialties, the purpose of certification is "to provide assurance to the public that a physician specialist ... has successfully completed an approved educational program and an evaluation process which includes an examination designed to assess the knowledge, skills, and experience required to provide quality patient care in that specialty."

The American Board of Phlebology is the credentialing body for doctors specializing in phlebology and offered its first certifying exam in May 2008. This certification signifies that Dr. Fort possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in venous (vein) disease as well as a commitment to personal excellence. Dr. Fort is also board certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
