About the Doctor
Dr. Fort completed his surgical residency at the University of Rutgers Medical School. As Chief Surgical Resident he was the recipient of the Most Outstanding Surgical Resident Award. Following his residency he obtained a Fellowship at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Fort is a board certified surgeon and founder of the Capital Region Vein and Laser Centre. Dr. Fort specializes in phlebology (the branch of medicine that deals with diseases of the vein circulation) and has over twenty years of experience in treating patients with vein problems. He is highly trained in the use of all techniques including sclerotherapy, ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, laser, ambulatory micro-phlebectomy, and the new endovascular procedure, known as Closure.
Dr. Fort was part of the first group of physicians that took board certification exam in phlebology in May, 2008. Dr. Fort passed the exam was awarded Diplomate status by the American Board of Phlebology. Dr. Fort is the only board-certified vein specialist in upstate New York.
Dr. Fort is Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) since 1991 as well as Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS). He is a member of the American Venous Forum, the American College of Phlebology, Société Française de Phlébolgie, the British Association of Sclerotherapists and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. Dr. Fort is also a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery and the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.
Dr. Fort has authored the sections on Varicose Veins and Venous Ulcers for the 2011 edition of the medical textbook: Ferri’s Clinical Advisor by Mosby, Inc. The book is designed to provide physicians and allied health professionals a fast and efficient reference to important clinical information and practical guidance for patient management.
About the Staff
Lisa O'Brien, is our Closure Coordinator and Vascular Ultrasound Technician. She is trained in laser hair removal. Lisa is involved with many behind the scenes aspects of running the Centre. She coordinates patient care throughout the entire Closure treatment process. Lisa is able to provide you detailed information about a patient's procedure and answer questions to put the patients at ease. Lisa's easy going attitude and warm personality are key qualities in her success as our Closure Patient Coordinator.
Amy Perka is the Centre's Medical Esthetician and Laser specialist. The unique combination of her education and experience, provides our patients with expertise in all skin-resurfacing and laser hair removal procedures. Amy also provides in-office skin care consultations and treatments that compliment our other services. Amy's experience and personal touch will help you to achieve healthy skin and minimize the signs of aging, by customizing a skin care regimen specifically for your skin type.
